Notion's week: its agent now makes Excel, Word, PowerPoint and PDF files, and edits say which agent did them

SummaryNotion's Halloween recap bundles four updates from Oct 27 to 30: an agent that builds real office files, speaker labels for Google Meet notes, bigger automatic offline downloads, and a 'Last edited by' label that names the agent or MCP client behind a change. Here is what each one does, and what Notion hasn't said.

On Oct 31, Notion posted a recap of what it shipped the week of Oct 27. None of it is on Notion's release-notes page yet (that page still ends at Oct 19), so the details below come from Notion's own posts and its Help Center.

1. The agent makes real files (Oct 27). Notion says Notion Agent "can now use a computer to create and edit files," so a chat can end in a finished Excel spreadsheet, Word doc, PowerPoint deck or PDF without leaving Notion. It builds on the Oct 19 upgrade that gave Notion Agents their own computer and browser. Who it's for: people who already keep plans and numbers in Notion and still have to hand someone a .xlsx or .pptx.

2. Speaker labels for Google Meet (Oct 27). A new Chrome extension, the Notion Meetings Add-on, labels each speaker in AI Meeting Notes transcripts of Google Meet calls, including group calls. Before, Notion's own post says, transcripts had two speakers: "You and everyone else." Per the Help Center, it needs Chrome 127 or later on a computer and the Notion desktop app running, only the person transcribing installs it, and it pins a message in the Meet chat and shows a recording badge on your camera when transcription starts. Speaker labels are English only.

3. Offline mode downloads more for you (Oct 30). Notion says offline mode now automatically downloads up to 1,000 of your recent and favorite pages on paid plans. The Help Center confirms automatic downloads of recents and favorites on Plus, Business and Enterprise, in the desktop and mobile apps only (not the web), but does not state the 1,000 number. Subpages are not downloaded automatically, and a database only brings its first 50 rows of the first view.

4. "Last edited by" names the agent (Oct 29). The label now shows which agent, MCP client or automation made a change, not just a person. Notion hasn't said which plans get it or whether it appears on blocks or only pages.

The recap also notes that OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Terra is now available in Notion.

The catch. The file-making agent is the headline, but Notion hasn't published a help page with its limits (file size, formatting fidelity, or how many credits a file costs), and Notion is moving all AI usage to a new credit system (announced Oct 19). We haven't tested any of these updates hands-on. Check your own credits before you have the agent build a 40-slide deck.
