Vercel launched Schedules in public beta (blog dated Nov 4, 2026; @vercel posted about it Nov 5). Agents and apps can create, change, or cancel one-time and recurring schedules through code, without redeploying.
What it does. A schedule tells Vercel when to trigger a task and where to send it. Your app provides the code that runs the work.
- Static schedules live in
vercel.jsonor the Build Output API. They sync on deploy. Targets: a path, a private function, or a Queue topic. - Dynamic schedules are created at runtime with the
@vercel/schedulesJS SDK, the CLI, or the API. They support one-time and recurring work, an optional JSON payload, and namespaces. Target: Queue topic only.
Compared with Cron Jobs. Schedules replace Cron Jobs (legacy; Cron Jobs docs still cover migrating to Schedules). Unlike Cron Jobs, which were Production only, Schedules support Preview deployments and custom environments. Timing runs within a jitter window of 1 to 15 minutes; Hobby can run every 15 minutes (from Vercel's comparison table).
Who it's for: builders and agents that need work over time — reminders, digests, cleanup, or agent tasks that fire once later — without parking every schedule in a database and a polling cron.
Caveats, from Vercel. Public beta: behavior, APIs, and limits may change before GA. Dynamic schedules target Queue topics only. Runs are not exact to the second — expect jitter. MODEL has not tested it.
