Anthropic just shipped Personal Finance in Claude — connect bank and card accounts through Plaid, then ask about your money in plain English.

What it does. Ask where the money went this month, whether spending is higher than usual, what is left before payday, or whether anything looks off (duplicate charges, unexpected fees, a bill that crept up). Claude can sort spending by category, build charts or calendars, and explain terms like APR with interest totals from your own transactions. Access is read-only: Personal Finance cannot move, manage, or invest money, and it is not designed to give investment advice.

No product pitch. Like the rest of Claude: no ads or sponsored recommendations, and Claude does not offer its own credit cards, loans, or savings accounts.

Who gets it. Beta rolls out this week to Pro, Max, and Ultra plans in the US — not Free, Team, or Enterprise. Rollout is gradual: a paid plan does not mean immediate access. When you see Personal Finance in the sidebar, open it, connect an account, and ask one question.

What Claude can see (connected accounts only). Bank name; account name, type, and last four digits; balances and credit limits; up to two years of transactions. You sign in at your bank through Plaid — Claude does not ask for or see your bank password. Unlink anytime; then Claude can no longer see that account's data.

Privacy catch. Chats in the Personal Finance hub are not used to train Anthropic's models. Outside the hub, your usual privacy settings apply. Claude can make mistakes — ask which transactions sit behind a number, and check important figures with your bank.

The catch. This is a beta, US paid tiers only, gradual. Read-only insight is not a brokerage or advisor. ChatGPT shipped a similar Plaid-backed finance hookup in May (TechCrunch / The Verge). Anthropic calls this a first step toward working alongside licensed pros — not a replacement. Not tested by MODEL. Not sponsored. Not investment advice.

Claude helped map the first prokaryotic vault particle

Anthropic's biology lab used Claude to find, isolate, and solve the first 3D structure of a vault particle from a bacteriophage protein (L05) made in E. coli — 96 copies, ~9.5 megadaltons, first model in ~34 hours. Function still unknown. Preprint submitted to bioRxiv.
